LCV SUSPENSION

LCV AIR SUSPENSION

Top Drive System for light commercial vehicles.

Air springs applied on the rear axle, interposed between the axle and the chassis.

Objective: minimise vibrations due to the impact of the end buffer, This phenomenon is unavoidable when the vehicle is close to its load limit.

BY STRUCTURAL TYPE

The structural types differ mainly in the type of air spring used, but some technical details are not directly perceptible from a picture. The pictures below only show the macroscopic differences of the various versions.

LIGHT

LIGHT

For cases where it is necessary to provide a small support to the already sufficient load capacity of the vehicle, in order to preserve the structural integrity for occasional excessive loads. Almost invisible version in standard working conditions, functional and reasonably priced always in Top Drive System brand and quality.

Standard

Standard

Product suitable for all basic needs. The most popular choice among customers. The standard design features an air spring that can withstand an average payload that is not too heavy. Versatile and robust for newcomers to the world of air springs. It is the most suitable and suggested solution in cases where the vehicle load approaches the maximum permitted only sporadically.

REINFORCED

REINFORCED

For the heaviest situations, when the vehicle is particularly stressed and the permanent load is almost always at the (upper) limits. Top Drive System offers reinforced versions with a larger air spring than the standard version, in order to redistribute the load over a larger area with a view to preserving the structural mechanical components of each vehicle.

Comfort

Comfort

The COMFORT versions are designed to progressively reduce the stresses transmitted to the chassis. In addition to the use of a larger air spring than standard, they incorporate a dedicated restraint system, developed and tested to distribute the load over larger surfaces in load-sensitive mode. The result is a significant reduction in impacts generated by bumps, potholes, obstacles or sudden manoeuvres. This configuration is particularly suitable for passenger vehicles, motor homes, ambulances and all applications requiring maximum protection of delicate goods or sensitive equipment.

SUPER COMFORT

SUPER COMFORT

A natural evolution of the COMFORT versions, the SUPER COMFORT solutions are designed on customer request and developed for applications requiring a higher level of vibration protection. The experience gained from numerous special projects has enabled us to transform many customised configurations into standardised solutions that are now used in various technical applications. The SUPER COMFORT systems, in addition to the use of the air spring, incorporate specific components designed to reduce vibrations and shocks transmitted to the chassis, guaranteeing a particularly high level of driving comfort even on vehicles intended for traditional transport.

Comfort +

Comfort Plus

The COMFORT+ system renews the concept of an integrative spring, bringing it closer to the performance of full air systems. The diaphragm air spring is positioned behind the axle: this configuration, thanks to the leverage effect, allows a greater proportion of the load to be transferred to the air spring, resulting in a particularly smooth and comfortable response. Installation is also quicker: there is no need to remove either the end-pads or the leaf spring mounts.

ULTRA COMFORT

ULTRA COMFORT

The ULTRA COMFORT system represents the evolution of the COMFORT+, incorporating a lowered leaf spring designed to transfer the greatest possible share of load onto the air spring. The replacement leaf spring retains the same strong section as the original, but has a reduced curvature, specially designed to optimise the operation of the air system. The result is the highest level obtainable from a semi-air system: maximum driving precision thanks to the full-size leaf spring and maximum comfort thanks to the highly absorbent air spring.

FULL AIR

FULL AIR

FULL AIR systems represent a generational leap compared to semi-air solutions: in this configuration the entire load is transferred to the air spring, allowing a higher level of comfort and absorption and an extremely smooth and progressive dynamic response. The system features automatic ride height management via dedicated sensors and an electronic control unit that continuously adjusts the spring pressure. This maintains a constant ride height in all load conditions, enhancing stability, safety and driving pleasure. Full air systems are particularly suitable for those who want an integrated, high-performance solution, and are ideal for those seeking the ultimate in comfort, precision and dynamic behaviour.

ECAS

Some vehicles can be equipped with electronic chassis height control systems. ECAS systems have been on the market for several years and are very common in passenger vehicles such as buses.

The TOP DRIVE SYSTEM team studied the needs of special transport at length and developed the only entirely Italian ECAS system.

ECAS systems essentially consist of:

mechanical and pneumatic components;

air handling unit;

level sensors;

wiring;

electronic control unit and software.

In essence, it is a mechatronic system that can control the height of the vehicle chassis from the ground in real time and keep it constant, within the physical loading limits of the vehicle.
